Melasma
Symetrical brownish facial pigmentation found predominantly in darker skin type 3+ females. Found on forehead, cheeks, nose, jawline and upper lip.
It is an over production of melanin by the melanocytes which is then deposited in the dermis. Melasma can be caused by hypothyroidism, medications, pregnancy and hormones. Requires a skillful therapist to diagnose and determine plan of action.
